The Minnesota Lynx Add More Seating for their Games Against The Fever

Caitlyn Clark, selected first overall by the Indiana Fever in this year’s WNBA Draft, is already making a big impact on the league.

Clark at Iowa

Clark was a superstar at Iowa taking the team to back-to-back championships. She helped attract thousands of fans to home games at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. In 2022-23, Iowa ranked second in the nation in attendance with a total of 200,569 fans at home games. That number increased this past year to 236,620

Minnesota Lynx

The attraction at the college level is already translating to the professional level. Due to the high interest in seeing Clark in person, the Minnesota Lynx have decided to make seating accommodations for both of the Fever and Lynx matchups, per the Lynx PR on Twitter. The Lynx will be opening the upper level at the Target Center to fit thousands of more fans. The extra tickets will be on sale starting Friday, May 10 at 9:00 a.m.

The Lynx released a statement saying, “Due to unprecedented demand, new inventory has been released for the highly anticipated matchups featuring 2023 All-WNBA First Team superstar Napheesa Collier vs. the Fever and Caitlin Clark’s return to Minneapolis.”

The Lynx are the first team to make these accommodations, but will most likely not be the last.

The two matchups will be played on Sunday, July 14 at 4:00 p.m. and Saturday, August 24 at 8:00 p.m.

Clark’s First WNBA Game

Clark has played in one preseason game so far for the Fever. In 28 minutes of action, she racked up 21 points on 6-15 shooting and tacked on three rebounds and two assists in a 79-76 loss to the Dallas Wings. Clark will make her home debut in the team’s final postseason game against the Atlanta Dream tonight at 7:00 p.m.

Regular Season

The Fever kicks off their regular season on Tuesday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m. against the Connecticut Sun. The Sun open as a -5.5 favorite.
