Mets Call Up Christian Scott
The New York Mets plan on calling up Christain Scott from Triple-A, per MLB. Scott is the Mets’ fifth overall prospect and their top pitcher.
Stats
The 24-year-old righty has been dealing this spring for the Syracuse Mets. In five starts Scott is 3-0 with a 3.20 ERA, 12 hits allowed, 36 strikeouts, and a .711 WHIP in 25.1 innings pitched.
Scott pitched in college for the Florida Gators and was drafted in the fifth round of the 2021 MLB Draft.
First Appearance
Scott will be expected to get the starting nod on Saturday, May 4 against the Tampa Bay Rays according to manager Carlos Mendoza. The three-game series begins tomorrow at Tropicana Field.
Mark Vientos
The Mets also called up third baseman Mark Vientos from the Syracuse Mets last week. Vientos played three games for the Mets before being optioned back to Triple-A due to the return of Starling Marte. In those three games, Vientos went 3-7 with 2 RBIs, a run, and a walk-off homer against the Cardinals.
After just three games with the Mets, it was reported that Vientos was frustrated with the decision to send him back down to the minors. “I was hoping for longer, but they kind of gave me an idea that it was just for Marte,” added Vientos. “I’m not really surprised.”
Mets 2024 Season
The Mets struggled in the beginning of the season going 0-5 to begin the year. After the rough start, the offense started to produce and the team went 12-3 in a 15-game stretch to get above .500. They currently sit at 16-15, third in the NL East.
