NBA All-Star Games

Last night we had several events for NBA All-Star weekend and to say the least it was a disappointment.

Skills Challenge

We saw Anthony Edwards shoot three corner threes left-handed, two of which hit the side of the backboard. Yes, it is funny, but what are we doing? There are probably so many players who want to participate in this contest who are willing to take it seriously and then we got Edwards chucking up shots with his left hand.

Next, we got Scottie Barnes who is shooting half-court shots backwards. Again, hilarious. If you watch the video he just sends the ball to the moon and 5 seconds later you see it come down 20 feet away from the hoop. But I wanna see guys pulling up and draining these shots in record time.

Three Point Contest

The first issue I have with this contest is who is in it. I want to see the best of the best go at it, not Lauri Markkanen who is ranked 43rd in 3pt%, or Tyrese Haliburton who is ranked T-46.

The second issue is the Starry Ball. It is worth 3 points and is like a foot further than the other balls. Bring that sh*t back to the middle of the logo c’mon now.

Sabrina v. Curry

This was the best part of the night. Sabrina went first and was on fire to begin her round. She slowed down on the fourth rack, but closed out her round nicely with a score of 26 which would have been one of the top scores in the real contest. Curry went second and he did what Curry does best just drilling everything. It came down to the wire, but Steph clutched up and scored a 29.

It wouldn’t have been a big deal if Sabrina won. Like she said post-contest, if you can shoot you can shoot. Kevin Hart tying Draymond Green back in 2016 would be more surprising than Sabrina beating Steph.

Ionescu teased teaming up with Caitlyn Clark next All-Star game. That would probably be the best event again if that happens.

Dunk Contest

This dunk contest was TRASH. Nobody was creative at all. Bring back Aaron Gordon vs Zach Lavine and the Nate Robinson years and Blake Griffin jumping over a car.

Starting with the dunks themselves. Jaylen Brown’s dunks were the most basic dunks I have seen in a long time. My man jumped over a four-foot-tall Kai Cenat who was sitting in a chair…and he barely cleared him. The only dunk that was near the level of Gordon and Lavine was Mac McClung’s winning dunk over Shaq.

The judges also made this event TRASH. They are giving out 48s and 49s like Oprah giving away free cars. YOU’RE TELLING ME JAYLEN BROWN GETS A 47.6 FOR JUMPING OVER KAI F*CKING CENAT. Absolutely ridiculous. It is every year with these awful judges and the league does nothing about it. Adam Silver, it is time to call the bullpen and get some sensible judges next season.
