Phillies Postseason Run

Back-to-back years the Phillies claim the most electric postseason run. Last year they almost completed the Cinderella story and won the World Series as a six-seed, but now they are back in the NLCS and are two wins away from returning to the championship, this time as a four-seed.

Beating the Marlins 2-0 in the wildcard round was not much of a surprise in my opinion, but having to face the Braves in the divisional round is a completely different story. But what do you know, the Phillies did the unthinkable and not only beat the best team in the MLB but beat them badly. The Phillies took the series 3-1 and outscored the Braves 20-8 with 11 home runs. Insane. 11 balls were sent to orbit in just four games. No wonder Philly fans are crazy they have gotten moon shots left and right to start the postseason.

After beating the Braves the Phillies haven’t slowed down one bit. Game one vs Arizona and what do you know, the first pitch Kyle Schwarber sees is tattooed in the bleachers. What is more electric than the first pitch your team sees in the NLCS is nuked. After hitting two more home runs and winning game one I decided to bet the D-Backs. Not sure what was going through my mind when I placed the bet, but Arizona was clearly not the play. As I was watching the game every time a Philly player stepped up to the plate my thought was “This ball has a 50% chance of going out.” I don’t know if that is because I bet against them so I just had that feeling or if it was because of how insane this homerun tear is. But once again the Phillies’ first three runs were home runs which led to a 10-0 win.

I just do not know how any team can stop them right now that lineup is scary no matter who is pitching. Now through eight games in the postseason, they have 19 home runs and average 5.75 runs per game. Not only is their batting on fire but they also have Aaron Nola and Zach Wheeler who have been dealing.
