Warriors and Timberwolves Scuffle Recap

Is 90’s basketball back? We saw mayhem in California last night as the Warriors and Timberwolves battled it out in Chase Center.

Warriors and Timberwolves

You hear Warriors and scuffle, can you guess what player is involved? Yeah, Draymond. Not even two minutes into the game three players were ejected. The tomfoolery started after Klay Thompson was boxing out Jaden McDaniels on an Anthony Edwards missed three-point attempt. Klay grabbed McDaniel’s jersey preventing him from getting closer to the basket and in return, McDaniels grabbed back which resulted in chaos. Both players were dragging each other around until Rudy Gobert jumped in to try to pull Klay away. Draymond was not too happy about that and ripped Gobert off of Klay, putting him in a headlock and dragging him away from midcourt. For a second I wasn’t sure if I was watching basketball or a UFC fight.

Punishments

After the shenanigans settled down the refs handed out their punishments. Both Klay and McDaniels received technical fouls and ejections and Draymond received a flagrant 2 foul and ejection. I assume a suspension will be handed out later today for Draymond.

My Reaction

Klay and McDaniel’s tussle was just two players playing hard and physical, no need to eject them. Draymond needs to settle down, play ball, and stop looking for a fight all the time. Gobert probably should have tried to pull McDaniels away instead of Klay because Klay isn’t his teammate, but trying to break up the fight should not end with him in a headlock. I heard some people saying he put Klay in a headlock, but he never did, he was just trying to separate the fight. If you know me you know how hard it is to defend Rudy Gobert because he may be my least favorite player in the league. Karl Anthony-Towns needs to get in the mix. You see your teammate getting pushed around and put into a full nelson right in front of you and you just don’t do anything.

Game Stats

The Timberwolves got the last laugh as they outscored the Warriors 28-18 in the final quarter to beat them 104-101. Gobert logged nine points on 2/8 shooting, 13 rebounds, and two assists in 35 minutes of playing time. The T-Wolves are now 8-2 on the season and second in the Western Conference and the Warriors fall to .500 and sit in the 8th spot.
